WORKSAFE LIQUORCHECK DISPOSABLE ALCOHOL CHECK BREATH TEST KIT, 35µg PER 100ML BREATH

The breathalyser is a single-use chemical breathalyser that measures the level of alcohol in a person’s exhaled air.The breathalyser indicates whether this blood alcohol level is above or below the threshold for which the device is calibrated.

Each breathalyser is made up of 2 elements:

✔ THE BALLOON: collects a precise volume of air exhaled by the person. This air is then emptied through a reagent tube.

✔ THE REAGENT TUBE: contains the chemical reagent which changes colour on contact with alcohol. Before using the test, the reagent is white and will remain white if there is no alcohol in the exhaled air. If enough alcohol is present, the reagent turns pink. The change from white to pink occurs when the blood alcohol level is equal to or greater than the calibration threshold of the breathalyzer.

2-TECHNICAL CHARACERISTICS

✘ 2.1-THE BALLOON : The balloon is composed of 2 elements: The flexible limiting pouch and the valve.

2.1.1-The flexible limiting pouch:

The size of the limiting pouch determines the volume of air collected. The pouch is characterised by its dimensions (L: length and W: width) measured when the pocket is positioned flat and completely empty of air. During production, variations in these dimensions are verified to ensure that they do not exceed +/- 4 mm for the length and -3/+5 mm for the width.

2.1.2-The valve is glued to the pouch and is used as:

✔ a mouthpiece to fill the balloon

✔ a valve to retain the air contained in the ballon during the handling time

✔ the connector with the reagent tube to empty the air accross it. During this connection, the reagent tube pushes back the valve and allows the air to pass through the reagent.

2.1.3-Balloon characteristics:

✔ Volume: 1,3 liters ( L= 190 mm and W= 185 mm )

✔ Pressure drop when filling: The resistance to inflate the balloon, characterised by the formula: Resistance (hPa/l/s) = Pressure (hPa) x time (s) / Volume (l), is less than 150 hPa/l/s.

✔ Mechanical resistance: The balloon resists inflating with a pressure < 170 hPa.

✘ 2.2-THE REAGENT TUBE

The reagent is placed in a glass tube. This reagent is kept compressed by 2 perforated plastic reagent holder parts.

The glass tube is sealed at both ends with aluminum caps.

Glass and aluminum were chosen because of their anti-water vapor barrier effect and their compatibility with chemicals.

This sealing, using the aluminium caps, ensures total protection of the reagent against humidity and thus guarantees optimal storage of the test.
